Seville

Seville

The capital of the Andalusian region is steeped in history, from Moorish palaces to gothic cathedrals.

So far as gothic cathedrals go, Seville is home to the world's largest, and one of the planet's most impressive. The remarkable Catedral de Santa María de la Sede is a real spectacle, and the mighty Giralda bell tower is one of this Spanish city's star attractions.

Another world famous site not to be missed is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Alcazar Real, or royal palace. Steeped in more than 1,000 years of history, it is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe and it really is something quite special. If Game of Thrones fans think they recognise the spectacular surroundings here that's because the salons and gardens were used as filming locations for the hit show.

Despite this city's incredibly rich history, its beautiful streets still vibrate with life and colour. Whether you’re drinking and dancing in a busy Flamenco club or tasting real tapas for the very first time – Seville is thriving with Spanish culture.
