There are scrum-things you need to know about if you're flying to and from Edinburgh for the rugby this weekend.

We're looking forward to welcoming thousands of French rugby fans to the city for the Six Nations match between Scotland and France. A large number of supporters are expected to pass through the airport in the days before and after the fixture at Murrayfield on Saturday afternoon.

With this in mind we'll have teams on-hand to provide help and support ensuring all journeys are as smooth as can be and all passengers have the information they need.

Once you arrive

Dozens of additional flights will arrive from France on Friday ahead of the match.

After coming through Passport Control these passengers will be directed to a temporary coach park located in the Long Stay Car Park.

Staff will be positioned throughout the terminal - and along the route to the coach park - to help with directions while signage, including versions in the French language, will also be on display to provide information.

Once arriving at the coach park onward transport will be available, ensuring all passengers get to their end destination as quickly and easily as possible - ready to enjoy a fantastic weekend in Edinburgh.

For your departure

The airport is expected to be busier than usual on Sunday as supporters leave the city following the match (with a Scotland victory fresh in the mind, hopefully 😉).

We're encouraging people to make sure they're prepared for their journey by following a few simple steps.

If checking in luggage the advice is to arrive in time for your airline's check-in desk opening - and you should check with your airline for when this is. Don't get here too early as you'll not be able to drop your bags off.

After check-in it's security, and here you should prepare as you normally do. This means ensuring all liquids are under 100ml, removed from your luggage, and put in a clear bag. It also means taking large electricals like laptops out your bag and putting them in the tray.

Pockets should be emptied and belts removed too. Follow these steps and you'll be through even quicker and ready to explore everything we've got in departures.
