Budapest

Budapest

Hungary’s capital is a true highlight, packed with personality and incredible history.

The city itself was historically split into two parts either side of the Danube. Buda encompassed the hills on the western side while the much larger, and flatter Pest sat on the eastern side. Along the Danube lie some of Budapest's most iconic features - Buda Castle, the Széchenyi Chain Bridge, and the spectacular Hungarian Parliament Building to name but a few.

Talking of top attractions the ruin bars, located in once dilapidated buildings, make up a key part of the nightlife scene and are not to be missed during a trip to Budapest. We'd suggest paying Szimpla Kert a visit for a memorable night out. And you'll not want to leave town without checking out the thermal baths the city has become so famous for. Some believe they even have healing qualities due to the minerals in the water...

But what of the food and drink scene, we hear you ask. The city has long been known as a 'food capital' and there's so much to sample - from sweet chimney cake and tasty goulash to traditional Hungarian Kolbász sausages. I mean, what's not to love.
